Development of fNIRS systems is a highly active area that our team has been at the forefront of. One key development of fNIRS systems for the purposes of neuromarketing is their wearability. There are now research grade systems that are completely wireless which allows recordings of brain activity with people being able to freely move. It is also easy to accommodate imaging multiple interacting people at the same time. fNIRS is allowing us to move away from artificial testing lab environments to real-world settings.
