WHAT IS fNIRS?

Functional near-infrared spectroscopy is a brain imaging technique that uses light to measure brain activity. The technique is like the pulse monitoring you find in many smart watches, where light is used to detect changes in heart rate and oxygen levels.

Development of fNIRS systems is a highly active area that our team has been at the forefront of. One key development of fNIRS systems for the purposes of neuromarketing is their wearability. There are now research grade systems that are completely wireless which allows recordings of brain activity with people being able to freely move. It is also easy to accommodate imaging multiple interacting people at the same time. fNIRS is allowing us to move away from artificial testing lab environments to real-world settings. We can test your customers in the same environment they will be interacting with your products, placing additional confidence in the science behind decision-making.
